Bathroom Redo

I can't believe I haven't posted pictures of our bathroom since we finished it (ahem), nearly 2 years ago while I was prego!!! The room has seemed to be lacking something, but I can't put my finger on it, so I guess that's why I never posted (besides the fact that I was pregnant, sick, on bed rest, and then was a new mom to twins). :) I haven't thought about it since then until recently. I know a lot of friends have already seen the bathroom in person, but I wanted to document it on the ole blog as part of our renovation, and for my blog followers.

First, I'll refresh your memory with some very poor quality BEFORE pics. I wish I would have had my wide angle lens when we bought the house and I was taking all the pictures, but this will have to do. :)
I got really excited the day we got the keys to the house and immediately began tearing down wallpaper in this room, so you can see where I did that before I took any pics. When I started tearing it down, we realized this room was not sheet rocked, so we had to hold off until there was time for getting it done. We lived for a year using this room as is in these pictures. The floor was actually very clean when we bought the house, but after sanding the hardwoods in the hallway, it was stained and pretty impossible to clean.

Call me crazy, but I think the original toilet and sink is cool. But the sink was just too short and the toilet ran FOREVER every time it was flushed.

We left the tub as is, except it got a good scrubbing with baking soda and Lysol. We decided not to refinish it since I was pregnant and the fumes would have been very strong. We also bought a vintage claw foot tub to go in here, but decided to save it for the master bath we intend to add on. Ironically, the tub matches the paint color we chose, so it's all good. :)

We took this heater out and made a small cabinet on this wall for much needed extra storage.

Drum roll......

Now for the HUGE change....

I have to brag on my hubby. He did all of this himself. He's definitely a keeper. Ha! :)

You can see the art on the opposite wall in the mirror. Don't hate me, but I think I'm already wanting something different. I'm done with the Paris thing, and I want something more modern to mix with the old look. The shower curtain drives me nuts, too. For some reason, it always has dirty spots on the black part that I'm forever cleaning off. But, in my defense, I've used this stuff for 2 years already! :)

My favorite thing in here is the lighting. We got all the chandeliers in here from Pottery Barn. They are beautiful but a PAIN to clean. A PAIN!!! I just broke a glass piece this week cleaning them. Thankfully, they came with a lot of extras.

Well, what do you think? An improvement, huh?
